Annex Three
These items are not for sale. They are museum exhibits only.
(1) K-Duo sword and sheath.
Circa 1920's. When a Klansman advanced to the second degree (or K-Duo) of the Klan
he was given a sword. The swords were made by the same company that made swords for other
fraternal orders such as the Knights of Columbus, Knights Templar, and Free Masons. Thus,
a K-Duo sword and a sword for the Knights of Columbus are identical except for the
distinctive Klan markings as opposed to the Knights of Columbus markings that would be on
their swords.

(3)
The two photos above are enlargements of the handle of the Klan sword. The pummel is a knights helmet and is identical to the pummels of other fraternal swords. Left: On one side of the hilt are three K's. Right: On the other side the hilt has the image of a Klan night rider.
(4) There were different style
swords for different degrees. While not absolutely certain, the sword above is believed to
be a K-Trio (third degree) Klan sword. Circa 1920's.
(5) On the blade of the sword,
near the hilt, can be seen the manufacturer's name: E.E. Ward Co. New London.
(6) The knights helmet pummel
is similar to the K-Duo, but, not exactly the same. There are some slight design
differences. Also, the three K's are arranged differently on the hilt.
(7) Blade of a 16 inch long
"klan" knife. It reads: Imperial Order of the Klu Klux Klan convention, 1907,
Bristol, Tenn. This item is an absolute fake. There was no KKK in 1907. The Klan wasn't
revived until 1915. Imperial Order was not a Klan title used until the second half of the
20th century. Further they spelt the name wrong. It's Ku not Klu. Items like this began
showing up at gun shows and flea markets in the 1960's. Many people have paid high prices
for these thinking they are buying a piece of history, instead they end up with a novelty
item worth only a fraction of what they paid. It is hoped that this web page will help
save some people from such scams. There's nothing wrong with selling KKK novelty items.
But, palming them off as antique original historic collectibles is not only wrong, it's
fraud and illegal.
(8) A page from a Klan
catalogue, circa 1920's. It lists an authentic Klan knife (commissioned by the Klan), a
red :ruby cross which was worn on Klan robes, and one of the various styles of Klan rings.
(9) W.R. Case and Sons
collector series Klan knife. Circa 1960's.
(10) The box cover for the
above knife.
(11) On the inside of the box
cover is this photo. The photo is circa 1920's, but, the red K's and Mioak (blood drop
cross emblem) on the banner were added to the photo. The little fellow in the center
foreground of the photo is a Ku Klux Kiddy. The branch of the Klan for pre-teens..
(12) Another style of a Case
Collector's Klan knife. Circa 1960's.
(13) Not a Case and Sons
knife. This Klan knife, in original box with Mioak, is also circa 1960's.
(14)
Part of the handle of a 1960's era Klan knife.
(15)
(16)
Another Klan knife, circa 1960's, in original box with certificate and Mioak.
(17) This is an authentic KKK folding pen knife of sorts
to be hung from a key chain. Circa 1920's - 40's. The Klan seal can be clearly seen and
the blade is a double fold out type.
